Relatives and Special Friends Day

Dr. Gaynor welcomed nearly 700 guests over the course of the 2-day, 4-part Relatives and Special Friends Day which was held for the first time in the brand new Performing Arts Center. Dr. Gaynor admitted, “In one day’s visit, we could never show you all the special and unique aspects of Gaynor,” but attendees were able to experience a glimpse of Gaynor’s classrooms and learn more about RULER, the social-emotional learning program that is integrated into the curriculum. “Our space and programming, and most importantly, our educators, allows each of our students to grow as learners and explore their many interests,” said Dr. Gaynor.

Student representatives from each cluster spoke about what kindness means to them, inspired by Rachel’s Challenge which was presented to students in February. Guests were encouraged to fill out slips of paper with acts of kindness they’ve witnessed which will be added to the Kindness Chain that students are creating. At the end of the year, all the links will be fashioned into one, school-wide chain.
